Brentford head coach Keith Andrews has discussed his nomination for the Premier League Manager of the Season award.

The Irishman is on the shortlist alongside Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta, Manchester United’s Michael Carrick, Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola, Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola and Sunderland’s Régis Le Bris.

Elsewhere, Igor Thiago and Michael Kayode have been nominated for the EA Sports Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season awards respectively.

"It’s huge for the club to get that type of recognition," said Andrews.

"The two players, and certainly myself, will be the first to say that doesn’t happen without everybody rowing in the same direction, everybody pushing really hard.

"Those two in particular have been remarkably consistent with their performances."

On Thiago and Kayode, he added: "I’m really proud on different levels. It’s two very different stories and two very different individuals but both are players that show what it means to them when they go on the pitch.

"They are probably the most passionate players we have. Every day, they’re filled with positivity and a joy to be around, and the levels they’ve produced this year have been very special. They’ve been huge players for us in the forming of a new team."

There is an extended interview with Andrews in Sunday’s Crystal Palace matchday programme, as he reflects on his first season in charge.
