Brentford head coach Keith Andrews has discussed the atmosphere at Gtech Community Stadium for the Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur, and his hopes for that connection between supporters and players to continue across this season.

Buoyed by a vocal home crowd, the Bees began 2026/27 with an impressive 3-0 victory against Spurs, and have since gone on to defeat Birmingham City in the Carabao Cup and pick up a point against Leeds United at Elland Road.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” Andrews began, speaking ahead of Saturday afternoon's league clash against Sunderland in TW8 (3pm kick-off BST).

“I thought our fans were electric against Spurs.

“That anticipation that everybody gets, I could sense that going into the game. I was in that boat myself, I couldn’t wait to watch us play and go into battle.

“I just thought our fans were amazing, right from the off coming out of the tunnel there was that energy in the stadium that makes you feel alive.

“I think they’re enjoying it at the moment, and I know the players are enjoying that connection. Long may that continue.”

On taking on the Black Cats, who defeated Fulham 1-0 at the Stadium of Light last weekend, Andrews added: “What Sunderland did last year was pretty remarkable.

“To get promoted, given the record of teams who have been promoted in the last few seasons, and do what they did will tell you exactly what they are about.

“They’ve got a coach who organises them very, very diligently and that can cause you problems in different ways. He’s always very respectful of the opposition they come up against.

“What I see is a team in us that are in a good place. There’s no point in denying that, we feel good at the moment, but every game is a huge challenge and every game brings you something slightly different.

“We need to be ready and adapt to that on Saturday if it’s not what we’ve prepared for. We’ll be ready for another really good game.”
