Brentford head coach Keith Andrews provided a squad update ahead of the Bees’ Premier League game against Everton on Sunday (3pm kick-off GMT, live on Sky Sports).
The Bees drew 0-0 with Tottenham Hotspur last time out, while David Moyes’ side beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 at the City Ground.
“As usual with a game of that type [against Tottenham], there are a few little knocks as you’d expect,” said Andrews. “I’ll assess with the staff in the next hour or so. Touch wood, everyone seems okay.
“Mathi [Jensen] wasn’t right to start; he had a bit of a bug. Jordan [Henderson] came into the team, which was the only change from the Bournemouth game when we played really, really well.
“Reiss [Nelson] has been training really well and he’s a natural wide player, so I felt he was the right player to come on during the game.
“Dams [Mikkel Damsgaard] is someone I rate very, very highly. At times this season we haven’t found him in the right areas where he can be as effective as we know he can be, but that’s only a matter of time as we start to evolve and have more control.”
The Bees boss added: “With the competition for places we have, I’m always quick to compliment the strength of the squad in general. The players push each other on a day-to-day basis.
“Our training sessions have an edge and competitive streak that is match-like. Any player that wants to get back in the team has to show that level in training, and Dams falls into that category.”
Defender Sepp van den Berg returned to the matchday squad for the Bees’ goalless draw with Spurs on New Year’s Day having missed the 4-1 victory over Bournemouth due to a knock.
Josh Dasilva (knee ligament) remains sidelined, while Fábio Carvalho and Antoni Milambo will both miss the rest of the campaign due to ACL injuries.
Frank Onyeka and Dango Ouattara are also unavailable due to their involvement in the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria and Burkina Faso, respectively.
