Midfielder Christian Nørgaard is available for Brentford’s Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Bees captain worryingly limped off after a challenge from Wolverhampton Wanderers’ João Gomes during an FA Cup clash earlier this month and has missed the last two games with a foot injury. But head coach Thomas Frank confirmed that Nørgaard is fit again and could feature in north London on Wednesday night.

“Christian Nørgaard is involved in the squad tomorrow and that’s very positive,” Frank began.

“It’s been a short turnaround after the injury he got against Wolves in the first leg of the FA Cup game.”

Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey, Bryan Mbeumo and Kevin Schade are the Bees’ long-term absentees, while on-loan full-back Sergio Reguilón cannot play against his parent club.

Brentford are also without Saman Ghoddos, Frank Onyeka and Yoane Wissa; the trio are currently away on international duty with Iran, Nigeria and DR Congo respectively.

Frank was also asked about another midfielder who is likely to feature at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Fit-again James Maddison made his Spurs debut in the reverse fixture in August and has eight goal contributions (3G, 5A) in 11 Premier League appearances this season.

“He is a key player for them,” said Frank.

“They are different team with and without Maddison. He’s been a game-changer for them this season.

“Spurs have a lot of other good players, so it’s not that they can’t replace him, but the dynamic in the team just changes with him. He is the one that can do something out of nothing: pass, shot, cross, action. We need to find a way to close him down.”

The Bees boss also praised Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou for the job he has done since his appointment in June. Spurs currently sit fifth in the Premier League table having taken 13 points from their last six fixtures.

“He’s done a top job at Tottenham in many ways,” said Frank.

“I like the offensive approach; I like the all-or-nothing approach as well. I think it’s brave and I think you need to be brave to create big things.

“It looks good. But no matter what style you have, and no matter what you do, there are strengths and weaknesses. So, it’s up to us to try and minimise the strengths of Tottenham tomorrow.

“Their high pressure, the way they try to dominate games and how they try to get through teams quite quickly – can we keep that at a minimum? If we can, I think we have a good chance.

“We will go there with an offensive approach as well. We know we are facing a fantastic team and club, but we know that when we are on it, we can go anywhere and win.”
