Last season’s meetings did pit Brewers midfielder John Mousinho against his former club but his departure for Oxford United in the summer brought that connection to an end. Mousinho spent three years at Griffin Park between 2005 and 2008, scoring twice in 72 appearances.
After spells with Wycombe Wanderers, Stevenage, Preston North End, and Gillingham, the midfielder joined Burton in 2014, missing just four games in his debut season as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s side won Sky Bet League Two. A year later he was an ever-present as promotion to the second tier was achieved and he made another 32 appearances in last season’s successful survival campaign.
Another to have played for both teams in double Brentford Supporters’ Player of the Year winner, Andy Sinton. The electric winger, who won 12 caps for England, spent two years in the Conference with Albion at the end of his glittering career.
At Griffin Park, Sinton made 182 appearances, scoring 34 times, during a three-and-a-half year spell. Between joining in December 1985 and his departure in March 1989, Sinton never missed a league game and was a key part of the side which reached the FA Cup Quarter-Final in 1989, scoring in the First-Round win over Halesowen Town.
Lionel Ainsworth, Gary Alexander, Mickael Antoine-Curier, Darius Charles, Steve Kabba, Rob Kiernan, Barry Miller, Adam Reed, and Cleveland Taylor complete the short roll-call of players who have played for both sides.
