Brentford's B Team central defender Emmanuel Onariase has joined Cheltenham Town on loan for the rest of the season. The 20-year-old completed the move to the Sky Bet League Two side today, Sunday 1 January, as the January Transfer Window opened. Manny, as the defender is better known, will be available for Cheltenham's game against Colchester United tomorrow.
Manny joined The Bees from West Ham United for an undisclosed fee at the start of 2016. The central defender signed an 18-month contract after a successful trial having been at West Ham since he was 12. Manny has played 14 games for Brentford B this season, 13 from the start. He scored in the win over Queens Park Rangers. Manny was also named as a substitute for three Sky Bet Championship matches in the autumn.
Rob Rowan, Head of Football Operations, said: "Manny has had a very good year in regards to his development and has impressed all the Technical Staff with his desire to improve and challenge for a First Team place. The pathway for a centre back into our first team is difficult at the moment due to the quality and experience ahead of them, therefore, the opportunity for Manny to up skill and gain valuable experience on loan at Cheltenham was what Manny and the staff agreed as the next step in his development."
