The EFL Trust has secured £810,000 of government funding to make onward grants to club community organisations (CCOs) in 32 deprived locations across the country, with the aim of connecting more older people at risk of loneliness at a time when the Coronavirus has resulted in many individuals facing prolonged periods of isolation. A recent study from the Office National Statistics (ONS) showed that five per cent of people in Great Britain (2.6 million adults) reported that they felt lonely "often" or "always". Of those asked, 30.9 per cent (7.4 million adults) reported their well-being had been affected through their having felt lonely in the past seven days.
