Antonio German was almost lost for words after his first Brentford goal earned his team a point against Preston North End.
Antonio came off the bench to head in a Harlee Dean cross inside the final two minutes and give Brentford a share of the spoils at Deepdale.
He said scoring in that fashion was like a dream come true, as was celebrating it in front of the travelling Brentford fans.
“I don’t really know what to say,” said the striker, speaking to Bees Player after the match.
“It’s the sort of thing you dream about the night before a game.
“I am so happy it has come true.
“I saw Harlee take the defender out of it with his touch and he whipped it a decent ball.
“It came to me and I did the first thing I could, get my head to it.
“Luckily it went in.
“It was instinctive.
“It’s always great to score in front of your fans.
“It was a good feeling.”
Antonio said he was thankful Manager Uwe Rösler had given him a chance and he wanted to kick on now he had made an impact.
He said he knew injuries to strikers Farid El Alagui and loan signing Jimmy Spencer had created an opening and he wanted to take it.
He added training with the Development Squad had helped prepare him for his First Team chance.
“I have had to work hard in training to get my chance,” he said.
“I’m thankful the gaffer has given me a chance and hopefully I can kick on from there.
“We have had a few injuries.
“With Farid out, all the strikers moved up the pecking order.
“I have been working hard in training and listening to the gaffer.
“He has been helping me, telling me my chance will come.
“In the Under-21 squad, we train like the First Team.
“When we make the step up, we know what to expect.
“This is the start.
“I will continue to work and hopefully get another chance.”
Antonio said he felt a point a piece was right.
Preston had taken the lead when Scott Laird luckily bounced a shot in but Antonio levelled it up.
“A draw was a fair result I think,” he said.
“This is a hard place to come.
“They are going well and I thought we did alright to get a draw.
“They are a big team; they are brutes, a strong team, a good team.
“We have a good chance of doing well.
“With the gaffer’s knowledge and expertise we can push on to the Play-Offs and promotion.”
