Brentford FC’s Futsal team’s suffered a double loss to Norwich City on Match Day Seven in The FL Futsal South East League.

The Bees travelled to Barking knowing that a win for the ‘A’ team was vital to secure a more favourable seeding in The Soccer AM Cup draw and also to keep them in the hunt for the end of season play-offs.

It was the ‘B’ team who played first, a player light due to injury and suffered an early blow when The Canaries took the lead in the fifth minute with a goal from a ten metre shot which left Saki Shire in goal no chance.

However, it was Brentford who looked to force the pace and enjoyed some good possession which led to an equaliser by skipper Mason Roseboom which a calm finish from short range.

With the score at 1-1, Brentford looked to pressure the opponents but The Canaries' keeper pulled off some good saves to keep The Bees out.

Norwich looked very threatening on the counter-attack and Shire needed to be at his best to stop further scoring.

After the interval the game entered a cat and mouse phase with lots of safe possession but neither team looking as though they were going to score.

Then on the 25th minute Norwich counter-attacked and a brave block from Mason Roseboom ten metres out prevented a goal-bound shot.

Unfortunately, Roseboom suffered an ankle injury which meant he had to be withdrawn taking no further part in the game.

Three minutes later Norwich took the lead after some poor defending with a shot from eight metres beating the Brentford keeper.

A penalty on 30 minutes for Norwich was brilliantly saved by Harman Sandhu (now in goal) but it was the Norfolk team that were now on top.

The points were sealed for Norwich with a third goal five minutes from the end of the match.

The ‘A’ team started off very strongly against a Norwich City and the signs looked positive for the first quarter of the game.

Excellent movement and rotations were causing Norwich numerous problems but The Bees could not find a finish to match the superb play.

Then an innocuous looking Norwich shot from 12 metres beat Charlie Rose in goal to give Norwich the lead.

This seemed to have a profound effect on Brentford and three further goals from Norwich followed.

With The Bees trailing 4-0 at the interval The Bees decided to go to a full-court press despite having only one player on the bench.

Five minutes into the second half Brad Scott pulled one back with a composed finish but minutes later the deficit was back to four.

Then Brentford were thrown another lifeline when Azhan Iqbal (making his ‘A’ team debut) scored from close range with five minutes to go to make it 5-2.

However, a brilliantly constructed goal from Norwich consisting of clever one touch play ended any hope of a late Bees rally.
