Lewis' run was eventually ended by LOSC Lille's professional eSports player Stefano Pinna but not before he'd taken Bees fans through a whirlwind journey. Lewis was seconds away from twice going out in the First Round before he eventually prevailed 6-2 against Saint Mirren.
Finn Harps were swept away in the Second Round before more than 3,300 supporters tuned in to see Lewis dispatch Forest Green Rovers in the Round of 32. However, there was to be no fairytale for Lewis as former World Champion Pinna saw him off 4-0 in the Fourth Round.
The eventual tournament winners were Wolverhampton Wanderers who beat FC Groningen 2-1 in Monday night's final. It was the Dutch side who had ended Pinna's campaign at the semi-final stage.
Now it is keen gamer David's turn to represent The Bees in a tournament open to professional footballers only. More than 40 teams have entered already with David's former Blackburn Rovers teammate Bradley Dack one of those in the running.
Also representing the Championship will be the likes of Patrick Bamford (Leeds United), Cyrus Christie (Fulham), and Johnny Williams (Charlton Athletic).
