Brentford goalkeeper David Button gave his reaction to the draw at Ipswich Town, Brentford's first since October 21 last year.
“I think it was a point gained,” said David.
“We’ve seen the results and there are teams dropping points all the time, so it was important that we didn’t lose and let them get ahead of us.
“The way the game went, we felt we could have won it but we’re not too disappointed with the draw.”
The 26-year-old conceded a goal in the first ten minutes of play, with goalkeeper describing the events leading up to Daryl Murphy’s finish to put the home side ahead.
“They are quite physical and direct, so we always knew they were going to be dangerous at set pieces,” said David.
“It’s frustrating he had a free header in the box, but we haven’t conceded many from set pieces this season.
“The character we showed after that was great.”
After Ipswich’s goal, Brentford crept back into the match.
“They were full of energy at the start, but the way we play and the possession we had, they soon tired,” said David.
“We started creating a bit more going forward and getting on the ball in good areas.
“After the first 15 minutes I thought we were probably the better team.
“On a better pitch and on a different day we would have got three points.”
David spoke of his delight in seeing the team equalise after dominating that period of the match.
“There has been times this season where we have battered teams and not got what we’ve deserved,” said David.
“It was good to score when we were on top and important before half time we didn’t go in 1-0 down because we knew the second half would be an uphill battle and they would be defensive.
“It was an important goal and a good finish by Dougie after some good play.”
Ipswich pressed high up the pitch, which forced a slight change in Brentford’s normal pattern of play.
“They pushed onto us and didn’t allow our centre halves and midfield to get on the ball, which we normally like to do,” said David.
“With the pitch being the way it was, we didn’t want to take too many risks in our third.
“It didn’t really suit how we play, but that’s the way the game went and we have to adapt.”
