Goalkeeper David Button has left Brentford and joined Fulham for an undisclosed fee. The 27-year-old completed the move today, Tuesday 19 July, and signed a three-year-contract at Craven Cottage. David leaves Brentford after just under three years in TW8 when he was almost ever-present. He departs having made almost 150 appearances for The Bees.

Brentford signed David from Charlton Athletic in July 2013. He came through the youth ranks at Tottenham Hotspur, leaving in 2012 to join Charlton after a series of loan spells at clubs in the lower leagues. David made his Brentford debut against Port Vale on the first day of the 2013/14 season and played 45 games in all competitions that year, playing his part as The Bees won promotion from Sky Bet League One. He has not missed a minute of league action in the Championship, helping The Bees to fifth and ninth placed finished. In total he has played 141 games for Brentford, 134 of them in the league.

Dean Smith, Brentford FC Head Coach, said: “I would personally like to wish David well and thank him for his contribution in both performances and attitude since myself and Richard joined the club. His save in our win at Preston in January, as well as many others, will live long in the memory, but as the way in football, things move on and David has chosen to further his career elsewhere.

“I have nothing but respect for the way he acquits himself to his profession and his departure will leave big gloves to fill. But I feel we have replacements in Daniel Bentley and Jack Bonham who are eager to fill the position that David had made his own.”

Phil Giles, Brentford FC Co-Director of Football, added: "On behalf of everyone at Brentford I'd like to thank David for the many fantastic performances he gave over recent seasons. As with the recent transfer of Jake Bidwell, I understand if there are some fans who will be disappointed that we have sold a player to our local rivals. However, I'm confident that we've made a decision that is in the best long term interests of the Club."
