Brentford B defender Daniel Oyegoke says he has learned a great deal from his loan spell at MK Dons having returned to West London to help the B Team to two successive wins.

The 20-year-old played 18 times for the League One side in all competitions as he benefited from a range of experiences in senior football. After helping Brentford B to a 3-2 win over Aston Villa Under-21s on Friday night, Daniel says he is better for the experience and is focused on continuing to improve.

He explained: “I learned a lot over the past six months and I’m showing what I have learned, and I will continue to learn. This is all a part of my development and my game. I played a fair few games so overall I’m happy with what I learned there and the amount of games that I played because my minutes were good. It’s now about taking what I’ve learned from senior football and bringing it here to help develop other players as well as myself.”

Reflecting on the Premier League Cup win over Villa at the Laithwaite Community Stadium, Daniel believes the side were well worth their win as they finish Group D top in the Premier League Cup and they now focus on the knockout rounds of the competition.

He continued: “We’re happy. I think the boys played well, I think there were patches in the game where we had to defend and stick together. We’re over the moon and the most important thing was to get the three points and we’re through to the next round.

“In the first half we had to soak up a lot of pressure, but on the counter we were devastating with the quality that’s in our group and I think we’re getting better every day which is showing on the pitch in the results that we’re getting. It’s testament to Neil (MacFarlane) and all the staff that do the work behind the scenes because the group has come a long way.

“It’s a good group with a lot of good players. We have a lot of young players; I am a young player but some of them are younger than me! It’s a good group of boys and it’s a recipe for us to do really well.”

The young Bees won the game with yet another goal from Ryan Trevitt as well as strikes from Yehor Yarmoliuk and Alex Gilbert. On Trevitt, who Daniel worked alongside last season, the defender is pleased to see his teammate once again impress in front of goal.

He said: “He’s done really well, he won the penalty and in the first half we got two breakaway goals and that’s what you want when you’re soaking up a lot of pressure. When you get the ball back you want to go and score and that’s what we did.”
