Brentford defender Daniel O’Shaughnessy was sent off as Finland were beaten in an Under-20 friendly today.

The 20-year-old started in the centre of defence for Finland against Hungary.

He was sent off late on as Hungary won the game 1-0, the goal coming early in the second half.

Daniel, who joined The Bees this summer on a two-year contract after a successful trial, has been a regular in the Finland Under-21 squad over the past year.

He has made five appearances and scored in their last match, a win over San Marino.

Finland did not, however, qualify for the European Under-21 Championships, to be held in the Czech Republic next summer.

The Finland Under-20 squad for this friendly included many players eligible for the 2017 European Under-21 Championships and qualifying will begin for that tournament next year.

Daniel joined The Bees after spending three years with French side FC Metz.

He was born in Finland but holds dual nationality with the Republic of Ireland.

He began his career with HJK Helsinki and spent time on trial with Liverpool in 2011.
