The prizes were shared at last night’s Player of the Year Awards dinner with Alan Judge scooping the Supporters’ and Players’ Player of the Year gongs and Sergi Canos picking up the Goal of the Season prize. Hundreds of Brentford fans joined players, management, and staff in the wonderful surrounds of the Radisson Blu, Heathrow, for the annual awards dinner, hosted by Sky Sports News Presenter Natalie Sawyer.

The guests were treated to a three-course meal before the main business of the evening, the awards, began with the guests able to celebrate consecutive finishes in the top ten of the Sky Bet Championship following a fine end to the season.

It was no surprise that after a wonderful season which yielded 14 goals and 11 assists from 38 appearances, Alan Judge picked up both the Players’ Player and Supporters’ Player of the Year awards. The Irish midfielder can add those two prizes to his collection this season which includes a place in the Football League Team of the Year and the PFA Championship Team of the Season, third place in the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Year vote, and his first cap for the Republic of Ireland national side.

Alan also shared the Bees Travel Club Away Player of the Year award with goalkeeper David Button who was an ever-present again in the league this season. David did pick up a prize of his own as his wonder-save against Preston North End from Joe Garner, the most viewed video on the Brentford YouTube channel in history, won the Bees Player Moment of the Season as chosen by Mark Burridge and the Bees Player team.

There were two awards for on-loan Liverpool winger Sergi Canos who picked up the Goal of the Season and the Community Player of the Year for his work with the Brentford FC Community Sports Trust. Sergi, who joined The Bees from Liverpool in September, scored seven goals in 38 league appearances this campaign and it was his magnificent solo effort against Reading in December that was the landslide winner of the Goal of the Season prize. As well as his work on the pitch, Sergi has spent many hours off it working with the Community Sports Trust at their Soccer Schools and other events in the local community, and it was for that work which he was rewarded with the Community Player of the Year.

There was also a Special Contribution Award for a member of staff who had gone above and beyond the call of duty in their work. The winner of that award was Brook Road steward Orville Lettman for his courteous and genuine welcome to away fans visiting Griffin Park and for his help and assistance to supporters over the course of the season.
