Brentford FC has announced the beginning of a five-year partnership with MatchWornShirt from the start of the 2024/25 season.
Fans will have the opportunity to own shirts worn and signed by their favourite current Bees players, with the club’s auction proceeds going directly to the Heart of West London initiative.
MatchWornShirt are renowned worldwide for providing football fans with the opportunity to own the match-worn and signed shirts of their favourite players, straight from the pitch.
For the next five years, MatchWornShirt will host regular online auctions for the match-worn and signed shirts of Brentford’s starting XI, always going live at the moment of kick-off. These auctions will take place exclusively on the MatchWornShirt website and app.
Shirts that have been signed by multiple members of the current squad will also be up for auction.
The first auction of the partnership will occur on Sunday 18 August when Brentford take on Crystal Palace at the Gtech Community Stadium for their opening game of the new Premier League season.
Every match-worn and signed Brentford shirt put up for auction will be integrated with Fabricks, a digital authentication technology that guarantees and protects the shirt’s identity.
Founded in 2017 as a destination for match-worn and signed football shirts, MatchWornShirt is now an industry leader in unique sports memorabilia with more than 300 global partners. The company has expanded to offer collectibles from rugby, cricket, cycling and many other sports.
Charity has been an integral part of MatchWornShirt’s mission since the beginning, with much of the proceeds generated by their auctions supporting club foundations and initiatives. Going forward, any money that the club receives from the auction of shirts will go directly to Heart of West London, a partnership between Brentford FC and several charities and organisations campaigning to improve cardiac health in the local community.
James Flude, head of business development at MatchWornShirt, commented: “Our UK office is a stone’s throw from the Gtech Community Stadium, so this partnership is an extremely exciting one for us.
“We are incredibly proud of all of our Premier League partnerships, but this one is especially poignant given the charitable structure within it. Football is about stories - and we are delighted to be playing a part in this one”
Fran Jones, Brentford FC commercial director, said: "MatchWornShirt are the best in the business at giving fans the chance to own a piece of their club’s history, and now we’re giving the Bees family the opportunity to do the same. The past five years have been some of the most exciting in the club’s history. MatchWornShirt will be an important part of fans creating memories over the next five seasons.”
“Everyone associated with Brentford understands what Heart of West London means to us. I’m so pleased that this partnership is also going to directly support this initiative and help save more lives.”
