Brentford Football Club would like to thank those volunteers who gave up their time to help cover the Griffin Park pitch on Sunday.

As temperatures dropped over the weekend, Head Groundsman Nick Baldwin was joined by supporters to cover the playing surface with frost covers.

Supporters Gary Hughes and his daughter, Tom Drake, Glenn Pearson, Declan Moodie, Nick Bruzon, Lee Towersey, Kishan Parmar and Jason Butler gave up their time on Sunday morning to assist.

The pitch was covered in double quick time and the covers stayed on yesterday as snow fell on Griffin Park.

They will be removed today so final preparations for tonight’s FA Cup with Budweiser Third Round Replay against Southend United can take place.

Nick Baldwin said: “We really appreciate supporters giving up their time to help.

“Their assistance turned a long and potentially difficult job in to a short one.

“Being able to cover the pitch when temperatures drop gives us the best chance of getting games on during the cold winter months.

“There may be times as the season goes on where we need assistance again, it was great to have so many people willing to help.”
