Following on from the club statement published last month, in which we reported that one of our supporters was arrested for allegedly using racist and discriminatory language towards another Brentford fan at the Manchester United match on 5 April, we have received an update on the investigation from the police.

They informed us earlier this week that they discontinued the case, and yesterday told us that their post-investigation procedures are now complete.

The club had previously confirmed to the individual concerned when their bail conditions were lifted, that they were able to return to Brentford games. There will be no further action from the club.

We understand that this has been a difficult time for those involved during this police investigation. We take no pleasure in commenting on issues like this particularly when they involve Brentford fans on both sides, but that does not necessarily mean that we should fall silent because of that.

We will continue to review our approach and policies based on experience gained through such incidents to ensure that Brentford games are welcoming and enjoyable for all.
