Cheyenne Faulkner helped Brentford Women’s B Team extend their winning run to five consecutive games following their 4-1 win over Actonians Thirds at Bedfont Sports Club on Sunday afternoon.

After some early pressure from the hosts, the number 18 opened the scoring for the Bees with an astonishing solo goal.

Faulkner picked up the ball deep into the Actonians half and showed brilliant dribbling ability as she glided past four players before putting the ball through the Actonians goalkeeper’s legs.

Speaking on her goal, Faulkner said: “It was a great goal I was really happy with it I felt confident coming into today, so I just decided to go on a run and it ended in a goal.

“Once I skipped around the first player it was like the pitch opened up for me and it was all natural movements following that”

Abigail Claringbold doubled the lead for the home team on 36 minutes after Charlotte Halpin found room to deliver a cross from the right flank finding the number nine who had a simple tap in from close range.

The away team pulled one back on 38 minutes following a brilliant strike from Antonia Cole but two second-half goals from top scorer Kasey Clifford sealed the win for the Bees.

Talking on the performance, Faulkner explained: “We played well against a good side and played as a team which is really important, the communication was there between us so overall we defiantly deserved the three points.

“We all really wanted a win before the end of the year to continue our streak and I think that was evident in our performance.”

The Bees are now just a point off league leaders Leyton Orient in the Greater London Women’s Football League Division One North table with their promotion hopes looking healthy as the second half of the season approaches.

With the Women’s B Team now looking forward to the new year Faulkner only has one thing on her mind.

Charlotte Halpin

“I really want to win the league, Leyton Orient are a great team but they still need to come to Bedfont and play us, so I look forward to that.

“I feel that in recent weeks all our hard work in training has paid off and we have developed so much as a team so hopefully we can carry this into the new year and have a successful 2023.”
