Hello All!
After a frustrating result last weekend we needed to pick ourselves up and get back out there.
Training this week was about closing the defence down once they played out from the back.
Midfield had to be compact while the strikers had to work hard to press then when the time was right to step in.
The defence had to create space and width to be able receive the ball and make the pitch as wide as we could.
We faced old friends this week, Colne Valley who we have seen in the cup for two seasons.
This time it was a bit different, a league game.
The first half was good, passing the ball well and gaining possession.
We went 1-0 up in first 20 minutes scored by Lucy Easton.
The second goal was one to watch, Goodie (Claire) jumped on the ball outside the box, got clear of a few players trying to close her down then hit the ball perfectly to see it going straight over the keepers arms above her head.
It was 2-0 at half time and the next goal was critical, if they scored then it was game on, we still had more to do.
We went into the second half with our heads held high confident to press and work hard to win the ball back when we lost possession.
The third goal was scored by our skipper Bear (Vicky James) who dribbled her way through defence and finding the back of the net.
The fourth goal came from little Lisa playing left wing and cutting in to beat the keeper.
Unfortunately their striker got down the wing and managed to cross the ball along the floor skipping past our keeper for the other player up front to tap it in.
However Ashley Cheatley also attached the left side running to the bass line and sneak it past the keeper.
It was annoying to concede but we played well and got three points winning 5-1.
We were all happy with the result and we are going to to go into training this week to learn more and work harder.
The Under-15s had their first competitive game against Old Actonions under their new manager Lauren.
They won 15-0, that's right 15!!!
A special mention goes out to Tilly who scored seven goals, she also was training with the ladies during preseason.
Well done girls!!
Tilly and a few of the Under-15s have been going to extra training on a Tuesday night 5 pm to 6:30 at Lampton School.
This the start of a development programme run by Brentford's Community Trust.
I went down last Tuesday and got stuck in, it's good fun and great fitness for me.
Bees you later,
