THE GROUND

Carrow Road

Norwich

NR1 1JE

Norwich City moved in to the newly-build Carrow Road in 1935 after 27 years playing at The Nest.

The stadium has been upgraded several times in the past 80 years, including after a fire in 1984, and now has an all-seater capacity of 27,244.

The stadium is now almost completely enclosed, with seats in three of the four corners – and a hotel in the other.

Away supporters are housed in a section of the Jarrold Stand, close to the hotel.

The usual allocation is 2,500 tickets.

THE TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS

It is approximately 126 miles from Griffin Park to Carrow Road by road, albeit the journey is likely to be slow as there is little motorway.

Drivers will usually take the M11, A14 and A11 to the outskirts of Norwich and then the A47, A140 and A146 towards the city centre.

From there the route is via the A1054, A147 and A1242 to meet Carrow Road.

There is no parking at Carrow Road for anyone who does not have a permit.

Parking is available at nearby County Hall, a ten minute walk from the stadium.

The nearest station is Norwich, which is a ten-minute walk from the stadium.

Norwich is served by Abellio Greater Anglia services, from London Liverpool Street.

East Midlands Trains services also stop at Norwich but do not go directly to London.

The Supporters’ Association will be running coaches to every game this season – details of times and prices will be announced in due course.

THE FIXTURES

Brentford will host Norwich City at Griffin Park on Tuesday September 16.

The Bees then travel to Carrow Road on Saturday January 24.

THE RECENT HISTORY

Norwich City have become one of the country’s yo-yo clubs, changing division for the fourth time in six seasons in May.

The Canaries had become an established second tier club with only one season outside that level – in the Premier League – between 1995 and 2009.

Their Premier League year came in 2004/05 and seemed to set them back, after immediate relegation they stumbled in o the lower reaches of The Championship and were relegated again in 2009.

They bounced straight back, winning League One, and made it back-to-back promotions to reach the Premier League in 2011.

They had two good seasons – finishing 12th and 11th – but then hit the rocks last term.

They were inconsistent throughout, unable to win consecutive games and put together more than three matches unbeaten.

However, when Chris Hughton was sacked on April 6 they were out of the relegation zone.

Neil Adams took over for the last five games, lost the first to relegation rivals Fulham and took one point from the 15 available.

They eventually finished with 33 points from 38 games, finishing 18th and in the relegation zone by three points.

THE MANAGER

Neil Adams has been Norwich boss for just over three months.

He was unable to keep The Canaries up when he took the reins last term but signed a three-year contract in the summer.

The 48-year-old spent five years at Carrow Road as a player in a career that also included spells at Oldham Athletic, Stoke City and Everton.

He retired with a knee injury and moved in to coaching.

He returned to Norwich and was appointed Youth Team Manager.

Adams led The Canaries to the FA Youth Cup in 2013 and took over the First Team around a year later.

THE TOP SCORER

Gary Hooper scored eight goals in all competitions for Norwich last season, six of them coming in the Premier League.

The 26-year-old joined Norwich from Celtic for an undisclosed fee last summer after three years in Scotland where he scored 82 goals in 138 games.

Hooper came through the non-league system before signing for Southend United in 2006 but his career took off after he joined Scunthorpe United in 2008.

He had two years with The Iron, helping them to promotion to The Championship in his first season, and headed to Scotland after scoring 50 goals in 95 games.

Robert Snodgrass also scored six Premier League goals for Norwich last season from an attacking midfield position.

THE KEY MEN

Norwich will have a squad full of Premier League and international experience for their assault on The Championship.

Of those who played a key role for The Canaries last term only Snodgrass, who played 30 Premier League games, has left – joining Hull City.

England international goalkeeper John Ruddy was ever-present while Sweden international Martin Olsson played 33 games at left back and Russell Martin made 31 appearances at right back.

City can call on central defenders including former Brentford man Michael Turner and Cameroon international Sébastien Bassong but Nigerian Joseph Yobo has left at the end of his loan spell.

In midfield Norwich have Bradley Johnson, who made 32 Premier League appearances last season, Jonny Howson and Leroy Fer, returning from a spell with Netherlands at the 2014 World Cup.

England Under-21 international winger Nathan Redmond played 34 games while Dutch international Ricky van Wolfswinkel will be hoping for better than his one Premier League goal last term.

Norwich have signed strikers Lewis Grabban, from AFC Bournemouth, and Kyle Lafferty, a Northern Ireland international, to boost their attacking options.
