Former Brentford manager Uwe Rosler has been tasked with reviving Leeds United’s fortunes, having been appointed last month. His task is to take United back to the Premier League, where they left it in 2004.

Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino has given Rosler the opportunity to rebuild his managerial career after his dismissal from Wigan Athletic midway through last season. The role at Elland Road has been likened to a revolving door, with Leeds on their fifth new manager in the past 12 months.

Their 15th place finish in 2014/15 mirrored the previous campaign, so Rosler has a task on his hands to get Leeds among the promotion places.

Leeds started the last campaign poorly and Head Coach Dave Hockaday left 24 hours after their defeat to Bradford City in the Capital One Cup. Neil Redfearn was appointed caretaker with Hockday’s replacement Darko Milanič arriving on 23 September, with his first match the 2-0 defeat against Brentford at Griffin Park.

Milanič left after barely a month, and without a win. Cellino handed Redfearn the role again, but results were inconsistent until January. Leeds then put together a run of eight wins from 12 games, which took them to mid-March and relative safety.

Their subsequent results tailed off, which included a five match losing streak. Redfearn was replaced by Rosler shortly after the season ended. He has appointed Rob Kelly as his assistant, but unless the 46-year-old German can be backed in the transfer market, it might be another long season for Leeds fans.
