Courtney Senior scored a second half brace as Brentford won their FA Youth Cup Second Round tie.

The attacker put The Bees in front 20 minutes after half time and added a second ten minutes later as Brentford beat Dulwich Hamlet on a cold evening at Griffin Park.

Brentford’s Youth Team were well worth the win and now face a trip to either Bristol City or Burgess Hill Rovers in the Third Round.

Montell Moore shooting straight from kick off was an indication inside the first seconds of how Brentford were going to approach the evening.

The Bees were consistently on the front foot, using their wide men to attack the visiting side with midfield players James Ferry and Zain Westbrooke linking the play.

Kojo Awotwi and Senior were closely marked by their respective full backs but when they could release the ball quickly to a team mate or turn and run, they were a threat.

Awotwi had an early shot blocked while a Westbrooke effort was also deflected away after good work from Moore.

Goalkeeper Oshane Browne saved from Tom Field and Ferry shot over while Westbrooke shot over following good work by Awotwi.

Dulwich came to Griffin Park looking to attack.

They were pressed back by Brentford’s incisive attacking but when they got their forward players involved they showed just why they had reached this stage.

They set up with a holding midfield player looking to crowd Brentford out in their defensive areas but allowed their attackers free reign.

Dulwich take players from the A.S.P.I.R.E (Academic and Sporting Inspired Routes to Excellence) Academy and many of their players had formerly been on the books of professional clubs.

They had enough quality to pose Brentford problems but never really looked like taking the tie.

Joshua Silvera shot over early on for Hamlet and David Bangurah headed over from a fine Ramell Lake cross.

Lake then fired a free kick narrowly wide of the far post from a tight angle.

Dulwich had spells of play but Brentford had overall control, they were, however, finding it hard to break through.

Moore had a shot blocked before a deflected Senior effort was saved.

Sean Mason had an effort from a corner blocked for the visitors and Senior broke away to force Brown in to a save at the other end.

Nik Tzanev saved well from Fabian Reid while Moore shot just wide after cutting inside and Brown denied Awotwi after good work from Senior.

Ferry shot wide, a Moore free kick was blocked and Westbrooke shot over as Brentford pressed before the break while a Bangurah shot deflected inches wide on a rare Hamlet break.

Moore could have scored just before half time but Brown saved his low shot after he had been set up by Awotwi and Ferry.

Brentford would have felt they had the upper hand at half time but the visitors had shown enough to demand respect.

Lake had an early shot blocked for Hamlet in the second half but Brentford regained the initiative and did most of the attacking.

A Moore shot deflected wide and from the resulting corner, Dulwich’s goal led a charmed life.

The corner was played short and Moore skipped away from the defence, his low cross was met by Field but his low shot was saved by Brown, Seika Jatta couldn’t force the ball home, seeing an effort deflect on to the post, and Hamlet cleared before Brentford could put it in.

Moore then shot inches wide before Brown saved from Senior.

Hamlet had another good spell – Reid shot wide, Tzanev saved from Kareem Boyle and Silvera headed wide – but Brentford responded by taking the lead.

Ferry burst forward and created space for Moore, his low shot was saved by Brown but Senior reacted quickest to turn the ball home.

Bangurah shot wide as Hamlet tried to respond but Brentford sealed the tie soon after.

Another shot corner caught the defence out, Westbrooke fed Senior and he turned and fired home from eight yards.

Brown denied Field after the left back had burst forward and Ferry shot over after exchanging passes with Westbrooke.

Tzanev denied Boyle and substitute Brandon Hobbs to keep his sheet clean but Brentford always looked more likely to add to their lead.

Browne saved from George Pilbeam and then saved at the feet of the same man following a quick break in stoppage time.

Brentford could have had more than two but that was all they needed to book a place in the Third Round.
