Saffron Hand netted in the last minute as Brentford Women FC come from behind to clinch a 2-1 victory away at Tottenham Hotspur Development to extend their winning run to five matches in all competitions.
The Bees started the game slowly and were fortunate not to be behind early on but for a number of fine saves from goalkeeper Roxanne Clark. Tottenham did eventually break the deadlock when a cross from the wing was met first time with a fine low driven shot which beat Clark.
Brentford responded positively and soon equalised when Molly Holmes’ inch perfect pass found Hand, her initial effort was saved but the rebound fell kindly to the winger who was able to roll the ball past the Tottenham keeper.
Lisa Grant came closest in the second half to giving Brentford the lead but saw her chances well saved or fall just wide of the post as Ryan Peters' side pushed in search of a winning goal. It was Hand who secured all points three points in the last minute when Grant lofted a ball over the Spurs back four and Hand latched on and rounded the keeper before slotting the ball into the net.
Goalscorer Hand said, “We all battled so hard to win the match and it was so important that I took my chance right at the very end because we deserved no less than the win!”
Victory for the Ladies see them move level on points with league leaders Victoire Ladies and next face an away trip to Luton Town Development.
