Brentford Women’s FC were beaten 4-2 at home to Charlton Athletic Reserves in the Capital Women’s Intermediate Cup on Sunday afternoon.

The Bees got off to an excellent start when Lisa Grant opened the scoring with a strike from long range that caught the keeper off her line within the first minute. Charlton were quick to equalise when the ball was left uncleared in the Brentford area and was struck past Bees goalkeeper Roxanne Clark.

The away side gained the lead on the half hour mark after sloppy Brentford defending again inside the box allowed the Charlton forward to head home before quickly adding a third from a well hit effort outside of the box. A fourth Charlton goal was added when The Addicks' forward broke free and scored from close range. Brentford did pull a goal back through Saffron Hand when her spectacular volleyed effort flew past the stranded Charlton keeper.

Captain Grant said, “I hope we can move on from the defeat and go again next week in the league and hopefully carry on our winning run.”

The Ladies face Enfield Town Reserves at Lampton School next Sunday in the Greater London Women’s Football League Division One.
