An early strike from Josie Shand was followed by an Abigail Claringbold double and four goals from Captain, Kasey Clifford ensuring Brentford Women’s B Team continue their winning streak.
The Bees made it four consecutive wins and gained a vital three points as they blew away Forest Crusaders in a thrilling encounter on Sunday afternoon.
The hosts looked deadly going forward right from the off with it only taking them four minutes to get the first goal of the game.
A deep free-kick from Clifford was flicked on brilliantly by Cheyenne Faulkner falling into the path of Shand whose first shot was saved by the visitor's keeper. The Brentford number eight, who was playing her first game back after injury tapped home the rebound making it a great start for her side.
After controlling possession for large periods in the opening fazes the Bees got their second of the game on 12 minutes.
A huge kick from Brentford keeper, Sophie Boycott caught the away side's back line off guard, with Claringbold showing great instincts to predict where the ball would bounce and got onto the end of the kick in behind the defence.
The striker showed good composure to slot the ball home from inside the box doubling the host’s advantage.
The Bees were rampant and got their third just minutes later and it was Clairngbold again with the strike.
Another excellent long-range free kick from Clifford fell right in front of the Brentford number nine who used her pace to reach the ball before placing her shot into the near post, grabbing her second of the day.
On the half-hour mark, Clifford made it 4-0 to the Women’s B Team following a terrific free kick from 25 yards out.
The number 20 showed another display of her quality from dead ball situations as she bent her shot over the Forest Crusaders keeper continuing her fine run of goal-scoring form.
Despite the host's domination, the visitors continued to battle to find a way back into the match and managed pulled one back on 38 minutes.
After losing the ball on the edge of the box the home team were made to pay with the Forest Crusaders attacker smashing the ball into the bottom corner of the net.
It would have been near impossible for the Bees to replicate their amazing first-half performance, but they looked to do so in the second half as Clifford grabbed her second on 49 minutes.
The attacking midfielder ran onto a through ball from down the left flank and showed nice skill to cut inside of her defender, before slotting the ball into the near post from just outside the area.
The away team replied just moments later however, as a corner kick was headed past Boycott leaving the Brentford number one with no chance.
On 60 minutes Clifford sealed her hat trick through another one of her astonishing free kicks, this time from 30 yards out.
The skipper powerfully struck the ball into the top left corner putting the game well and truly out of sight for Forest Crusaders.
Another outstanding display from the number 20 was capped off with the final goal of the game on 69 minutes.
An exquisite pass from Betsy Harwood over the top of the visitors’ defence found Clifford, who smashed the ball home into the left corner on the half-volley.
It was a perfect day for the Women’s B team who look tipped for promotion from the Greater London Women’s Football League Division One after an impressive run of performances.
