Brentford Women roared into FA Cup third round qualifying in dominant style, defeating Tilehurst Panthers 12-1 on Sunday afternoon at Bedfont Sports Club.
Nikki Woods and Chloe Logie starred up front with a hat-trick each, Ashley Cheatley scored a brace, while Samantha Read, Maddie Phillips, Freya Worsley and Ella Cottrell each scored one.
Just as Bryan Mbeumo did for the men’s first team on Saturday, Woods found an opener inside 30 seconds, Logie putting the ball into space for the attacker to run onto who finished well.
After a fast start Brentford continued to dominate possession, however a tough Tilehurst side made life difficult for the Bees who were aggressively searching for a second goal.
Cheatley almost found her first on 11 minutes, the striker ending up one-on-one with Emily Bell in goal for the visitors, but put her shot wide right of the goal.
Goergia Hayes came close to finding an opener for Tilehurst minutes later, however her long-range shot was seen out of play by Evie Witek in goal for the Bees.
After some misses early in the first half, Cheatley got reward for effort on 25 minutes as she found the back of the net to double Brentford’s lead.
Logie got in on the action two minutes later, the striker scoring her first for the day as Karleigh Osborne’s side began to run away with the game.
Defender Carolin Engelhard returned to the line-up after one week away and came close to scoring on 29 minutes, however her shot was well saved, but Read was there to tap in the rebound from close range for the Bees’ fourth.
Phillips was next on deck minutes later as she found herself through on goal, putting the ball in the back of the net to make it 5-0 in the blink of an eye.
The visitors tried to wrestle back some momentum on 33 minutes as Leah Why fired a long-range shot, however it was sent straight to the safe hands of Witek.
Woods was in on the action again as the half-time break approached. The forward’s free kick from long range was well saved by Bell, however she was at it again one minute later and found the back of the net to make it 6-0.
Coming out of the break Brentford continued to be on the attack, Logie running onto a Phillips’ ball on 47 minutes and finishing from close range to make it 7-0.
The Bees only had to wait three minutes to find their eighth goal, Woods crossing the ball into the box from a corner and finding Worsley who headed it home.
Woods got her well-earned hat-trick 10 minutes later, the attacker firing a shot from the edge of the box into the top left corner for Brentford’s ninth.
Less than a minute later Logie joined Woods with a hat-trick, the striker’s shot beating Bell's hands as she dived to her right, the ball hitting the left post and rebounding off Bell's back and into the goal.
Fellow striker Cheatley found her second goal of the game on 72 minutes, beating her defender and putting the ball in the bottom right corner. She was replaced by Paula Holguin minutes later, ending a good day at the office.
Substitute Cottrell scored her first goal of the game after multiple near misses, the midfielder putting the ball in the back of the net off a Holguin assist.
