Brentford Women battled to a 2-0 victory away at Sutton United in the London and South East Premier Division on Sunday afternoon at the VBS Community Stadium.
A closely contested encounter saw Chelsie Berry open the scoring before Maddie Phillips added a second from the penalty spot, as the Bees claimed all three points on the road.
The away side began the stronger of the two teams and, in the opening moments of the game, a good cross from Wiktoria Kiszkis found Ilana Walters-Harris, who just could not get enough contact to divert it on target.
It was a quiet half as both teams' defences were shutting down a number of attempted attacks, but first-half substitute Khyri McKenzie had a great chance to give her side the lead. From close range, she shot straight at the keeper.
On the rare occasion that Saskia Reeves-Priestley was called into action, she made a fine stop to deny a Sutton attacker following a scramble in the box.
Maddie Phillips was next to have a shot from distance but her effort flew over.
Both sides were doing well to keep each other out but, on 61 minutes, the deadlock was finally broken as Berry found herself in acres of space in the box before sliding the ball past the Sutton United goalkeeper.
The lead was doubled soon after as Ashley Cheatley slalomed her way into the box before being fouled by a hanging leg in the penalty area. Phillips stepped up to take, firing into the bottom corner.
The west Londoners saw out the rest of the game as they battled hard for the three points.
