Jodie Reid put in a strong performance as Brentford Women secured their place in the Capital Cup final following the 3-1 victory over Denham United on Sunday afternoon.
The Women’s first team looked in control for the majority of the match as they cruised to victory at The Den following a Chloe Logie double and a brilliant strike from Nikki Saunders.
Speaking after the win, Reid said: “The team played absolutely amazing, we had a point to prove after the last result against Denham so we knew we had to come out early and show we are the team that will be going through to the final.
“We’re all really excited and we were singing in the changing room after the game which is what we wanted, bring on the final now!”
Reid was brought into the Brentford starting line-up during the warm-up to replace an injured Sophie Troth and proved to be an excellent addition with the number 16 setting up Brentford’s first goal 15 minutes in.
Talking on her late call-up, Reid explained: “I just made sure I kept my mind focused, it didn’t matter how I came into the game it was just about going out there and winning the match.
“I slotted a nice pass into Logie for her first which she scored from and she got another goal also, she was amazing for us.”
Logie’s early goal would have calmed some of the Brentford nerves following their last game against Denham where they struggled to find the back of the net despite a number of opportunities.
Reid and Chloe Webb linked up a number of times on the left flank for Brentford causing the home side problems throughout the match.
The midfielder usually plays in the centre of the pitch for the Women’s First team but has recently found herself out on the left flank where she has shown real quality.
“I’m loving playing out on the wing to be honest, I feel I have more freedom to do what I want to do in that position.
“I love to be able to pop the ball around and deliver crosses so it’s good out there for me.”
Logie struck again in the second half in what was an excellent finish before Saunders sealed the victory for the Bees in emphatic fashion as the women’s first team now prepare for the Capital Cup final against Dorking Wanderers.
