Brentford Women’s B team thrash Tower Hamlets and continue their hunt for promotion with an empathic performance at Bedfont Sports Club.
Kasey Clifford put in one of the performances of the season scoring four goals for the hosts with Abigail Claringbold, Charlotte Halpin, Hannah Quinton, Josie Shand and Chelsey Logan also all on target.
It took the Bees just five minutes to take the lead and for Clifford to grab her first of the game.
Holly Hawkes found the attacking midfielder 25 yards out from goal with a quick throwing allowing the skipper to unleash one of her trademark long-range strikes which flew past the Tower Hamlets goalkeeper into the roof of the net.
Brentford were playing some brilliant football and beamed with confidence following the first of the game.
The host’s made it 2-0 on 11 minutes and Hawkes played a big part in the goal again, her cushioned touch into the path of Claringbold was perfect as the striker rifled her first-time volley into the top corner in spectacular fashion.
The Bees were rampant and got their third two minutes later following another stunner from Clifford.
After Claringbold was taken down on the edge of the Tower Hamlets area Clifford stepped up and bent her left-sided freekick round the wall finding the bottom corner with her set-piece.
The visitors looked completely out of their depth as they came up against an in-form Brentford side who are determined to chase down league leaders, Leyton Orient.
Halpin got the home team’s final goal of the opening half after an excellent cross from Calli Weaver found the number 12 who helped the ball into the back of the net from close range.
It would have been easy for Brentford to take their foot off the gas in the second half but they continued to hunt for more goals.
Clifford sealed her hat-trick on 56 minutes when Betsy Harwood played a brilliant pass through to the number 20 who displayed her technical ability as she lobbed the Tower Hamlets keeper from just outside the box.
The Bees captain got her final goal of the game a few minutes later taking her incredible goal tally to 24 for the season.
Shand pulled off the assist of the game as her outside-of-the-foot pass fell perfectly into the path of her teammate, Clifford lobbed the keeper once again showing the unbelievable confidence she is playing with.
Quinton found the net next to make it 7-0 to Brentford, Aleksandra Dzikowska showed great skill to beat the opponents right back on the left flank before playing through Quinton who showed good composure to take the ball around the keeper and tap home into an empty net.
The home side remained strong in defence as they limited the away team to very few chances with Olivia Thick standing out in her first start for the Bees.
Shand scored with a powerful left-footed strike from inside the box following a pass down the left wing from Logan.
Brentford got their final goal of the game on 77 minutes through Logan, the winger latched onto a poor clearance from the Tower Hamlets defender and smashed the ball from just outside the box into the top corner, ending what was a perfect day for the hosts.
Speaking after the amazing win, head coach Tommy Ryan-Maynard was over the moon from what he saw from his side.
“We were brilliant, we have been playing with so much confidence recently and it’s great to see, I’m proud of each and every one of the players.
“The whole team is determined to chase down Leyton Orient for the league title, but we understand all we can keep doing is picking up results.
“We are improving every week in training and I have so much belief in this group to continue growing and achieve more success.”
