Brentford Women B will feature in the third round of the Capital Cup following a 9-0 win over Actonians Thirds at Bedfont Sports Club on Sunday.

A first half hat-trick from Holly Hawkes stole the show in the second round clash, the star forward finishing with five goals. Shania Foley scored two of her own, while goals from Nia Bowman and Kasey Clifford capped off a dominant day for the Bees.

Head coach Tommy Ryan-Maynard was forced to make five changes to the starting line up, with Isidora Edwards, Bowman, Clifford, Hawkes and Aleksandra Dzikowsksa all being welcomed into the starting XI.

With no Abigail Claringbold up front, Hawkes took control of the striker position and made it her own in an impressive display.

Brentford wasted little time getting on the board, Hawkes finding the back of the net on seven minutes following a dangerous cross from Bowman on the right side.

Bowman found herself on the other end of the play five minutes later, Foley putting the ball out in front of the midfielder, Bowman then finding the bottom left corner to put Brentford up 2-0.

Actonians came close to finding their first goal on 17 minutes, their header from a corner going just right of the goal.

The Bees were quick to get back on the attack, Foley finding a breaking Bowman down the right side, her ensuing cross finding the foot of Hawkes, the ball sneaking across the line for the Bees’ third goal and Hawkes’ second.

Hawkes only had to wait three minutes to complete her hat-trick, this time the star using her head to put the ball in the back of the net from a Foley cross into the box.

Despite Brentford dominating 4-0, the visitors continued to attack when in possession, Fiona Catherine Moloney firing a powerful strike from outside the box on 29 minutes which hit the right post and rebounded to a teammate, her shot then well saved by Emily Boycott in goal for the Bees.

Already holding a dominant lead, Brentford continued to press for a fifth first half goal, which they found just before the break through Foley, who put the ball in the back of the net after a neat pass from Hawkes.

The rain began to fall heavily as the second half got under way, but it bothered Brentford little, Hawkes producing a mid-air shot after a cross from Clifford to score her fourth goal and the Bees’ sixth.

As they had done in the first half, Brentford found a second goal early in the second 45 minutes, Foley breaking forward and finding herself one-on-one with Actonians keeper Eleni Kanellaki and scoring.

Substitutes Alicia Henry, Samantha Jones, K-Lah Briscoe and Liv Thick came on in the second half to provide fresh legs, the quartet making an impact across each line as the Bees continued to attack.

Clifford got herself in on the goal scoring action on the hour mark, as she found space inside the box to fire a shot into back of the net to give Brentford an 8-0 lead.

Bowman almost scored a second goal minutes later, as she stormed away from her opponent down the right side and into the box, however her shot was well saved by Kanellaki.

The latter wasn’t so lucky on 87 minutes, however, Hawkes finding herself one-on-one with Kanellaki and chipping the ball over the keeper’s head to score her fifth goal and secure a 9-0 win for Brentford.
