Brentford Women B beat Tower Hamlets 4-0 in an impressive display on Sunday afternoon at Bedfont Sports Club.
The B team continued their unbeaten start to the season with a dominate display against Tower Hamlets. Two strikes from Jasmine King and goals from Kasey Clifford and Eshe Davies ensured the victory for the Bees.
It took Brentford just 14 minutes to make a breakthrough after early pressure from the home side.
King, who is officially a first team player but has been building minutes with the B team after making a return to the pitch following a long-term injury, put Brentford ahead in spectacular fashion.
After Rebekah Edwards smashed the post from close range the ball fell to Davies who set up King who powerfully struck the ball past the Tower Hamlets keeper from 25 yards.
Brentford were playing some great football and managed to double their lead just before the half-hour mark through Clifford.
Nia Bowman delivered a great ball from the right flank into the box which was met by Clifford, the attacking midfielder saw her initial shot saved by the opposition’s keeper but she was able to flick the rebound home.
The Bees continued to put pressure on the Tower Hamlets goal with the side going into the break 3-0 up thanks to an excellent header from King.
King found the net again when she got on the end of a Clifford free-kick which was delivered from the right wing. The Brentford midfielder diverted her header into the bottom left corner to give her side a comfortable lead going into the break.
Tommy Ryan-Maynard made three changes at the break as the head coach looked to give valuable minutes to his squad.
On 52 minutes the home side scored their fourth and final goal of the game, Shania Foley did well to press the Tower Hamlets holding midfielder winning the ball in the opposition’s half before finding Davies.
The striker, who is in fine goal scoring form displayed her confidence by lifting the ball over the away side’s keeper from outside the box.
Tower Hamlets struggled to make any real impact on the game but did have a good couple of chances with 15 minutes to play.
The visitors tested Brentford keeper Emily Boycott, but the shot-stopper was equal to Tower Hamlet’s efforts to keep a clean sheet.
Speaking on the match, B team head coach Ryan-Maynard was left pleased with what he saw from his side.
He said: “That’s four wins from five games and we remain unbeaten so of course I’m really happy with the start we have had.
“We were able to rotate the squad and rest a few players and I was pleased with how those that stepped in performed.
“There were some great individual performances but it was good to see us play so well as a team and something that I’m hoping to see more of in the coming weeks.”
