Brentford Women claim a place in the semi-final of the Trophy Cup after a 5-0 win over Steyning Town Community on Sunday afternoon.

The Bees put on a rampant display in what was their first game of 2024 at Bedfont Sports Club in front of a big crowd. A Chloe Logie first half double saw the striker take her goal tally to 18 for the season, whilst Ella Cottrell also struck in the opening half. Two goals from Nikki Woods and Regan Graver in the second half saw Brentford cruise to a victory.

The home side wasted little time exerting their dominance on the game, taking the lead just after 10 minutes when Maddie Heavingham Ford was brought down inside the penalty area.

Logie stepped up and slotted her spot kick away with confidence, the striker scored another on 23 minutes when Cottrell got on the end of a Chloe Webb cross heading the ball into the path of the number nine who was on target again.

It was all Brentford in the opening half with the side continuing to threaten the Steyning goal, the side made it 3-0 on the brink of half time.

Cottrell, who has been in form for the Bees, was the scorer this time when the attacker took a touch before sliding her shot into the back of the net to make it 3-0.

The home side did put on some early pressure as they came out in the second half playing some nice football.

However, the Bees soon became the dominant side again and got their fourth on 52 minutes when Woods found Graver from a corner who powerfully headed the ball home.

The healthy Brentford lead allowed Karleigh Osborne to make a number of changes in the second half, Aya Mirjan made an impact when she was introduced to the game and set up the home side’s fifth.

The full-back played a neat pass into Woods who stepped up and smashed the ball past the Steyning Town keeper, ended what was another good day for the side.
