Brentford were dominant at Bedfont as they ran out 5-3 winners against South East Counties Women's League side Carshalton Athletic in a pre-season fixture on Wednesday evening.

Ashley Cheatley looked sharp on her second debut for the club as spectators at Bedfont witnessed eight goals.

Nikki Woods gave Brentford the lead early on with a strike from distance.

Lucy Bolitho had the ball in the back of the net again, converting the rebound following a saved Kirsty Matthews shot, but the assistant's flag was raised.

The Bees were making chances at will and should have been two ahead but Bolitho’s effort after being played through on goal was saved by the goalkeeper.

Brentford remained in control and Kheir smashed an effort which was tipped onto the crossbar.

Woods almost got her second of the game as a strike from distance beat the goalkeeper but went just over the bar.

Brentford made it three in the second half of the game as a brilliant cross from Lucy Potter found Paula Holguin at the back post and the attacker converted with a first-time finish.

Carshalton Athletic were awarded a penalty and they converted to give them their first.

They scored a second, lobbing the goalkeeper from the edge of the penalty box.

Freya Worsley ensured there were no nerves in seeing out the game as she converted from close range to score the team's fourth.

The fifth came soon after, as Woods grabbed her second of the game with a free-kick that found the bottom corner of the net.

The away side did grab a third and it was a header at the back post from a corner that ensured spectators at Bedfont witnessed eight goals in total on the night.

Brentford Women remain undefeated so far in pre-season, as they continue their preparations for the new campaign.
