Brentford Women were victorious in their Wheatsheaf Park debut, beating Richmond Park 2-0 in the London South East Division One North.

The Bees fought hard for the win against a resolute defence. Chloe Logie was on the scoresheet again, finishing brilliantly from just inside the box. Kirsty Matthews got the second with a spectacular finish late on. The result means the title charge is still in the hands of Karleigh Osborne's team, with a massive game against Sport London E Benfica at the weekend.

Brentford Women took an early lead in the game and it was striker Logie who was on the scoresheet again, receiving a through ball and finishing expertly. That was her 45th goal in all competitions.

A cross from Chloe Webb found the unmarked Freya Worsley but she was tackled well before she was able to have a shot at goal.

Worsley was involved again as she hit the crossbar rising highest to meet Nikky Woods’ corner.

Brentford were in full control of the game. Nikki Woods went on a mazy run, hurdling a couple of challenges before letting off a powerful shot which hit the crossbar. The rebound fell to Logie but her shot went straight at the keeper.

Evie Witek was called into action for the first time in the game, making a massive save to deny Ruby Dykes.

Logie almost scored from a cross which the keeper should have easily collected but the striker put the ball over the bar with a first-time effort.

The second period was much quieter as Richmond were defending their box well.

Logie had a half chance, striking from an awkward angle, but goalkeeper Amanda O’Neill held on to the ball.

Kirsty Matthews also had a shot from distancing which only just flew over the bar.

The Bees were pushing for a second in the game but the away side were putting in a number of last-ditch challenges and blocks.

Kirsty Matthews sealed the win with a looping effort that the keeper failed to deal with.

The win sees Osborne’s side rise to second in the table on goal difference with three games in hand still to play over the team in first, Sport London E Benfica.
