Brentford comfortably beat Clapton Community 2-0 in their final home match of the season on Sunday afternoon.

The sides went into the break level at 0-0 in what was an opening half with very few chances. The hosts dominated the second half with a wonder strike from Jodie Reid and another Chloe Logie goal sealing the win for Brentford.

The Bees nearly got off to a perfect start when Lucy Bolitho found herself in behind the Clapton defence just two minutes in, but the forwards shot was saved well by the visiting teams keeper.

Clapton had a good chance themselves inside the opening five minutes when Marta Casanovas worked her way through the hosts back line but her shot was right at Evie Witek.

Maddie Phillips came inches away from putting the hosts ahead on 20 minutes as her free-kick from 25 yards forced a good diving save from the Clapton keeper.

Neither side were able to stamp their authority on the game as the first half was a quiet one in terms of chances.

Chloe Logie had some good touches for the hosts but the striker had a lack of service in a frustrating opening half for the Bees.

Emily Link came close to putting Clapton ahead just before the break when her shot from distance grazed the top of the bar before going out of play.

The Bees started the second half in a positive manner and got themselves ahead on 49 minutes through a Jodie Reid stunner.

The midfielder picked up the ball from around 30 yards out and smashed the ball into the top left corner leaving Sienna Lugato with no chance.

After dominating the ball Brentford were rewarded with a second goal just after the hour mark and it was Logie who struck to take her goal tally to 51 for the season.

The forward tapped the ball home at the far post following an excellent cross from Ellen Wardlaw from the right flank.

Moments later the striker nearly scored an unbelievable goal when she smashed the ball on the volley from 25 yards but the ball struck the post.

Clapton were limited to very few chances in the second half as the Brentford back line remained strong throughout.

Brentford Women’s scheduled fixture against Candem and Islington next Sunday has been postponed, further updates on this will be provided during the week.
