Tom Soares scored one and made one as Bury snatched a point at Griffin Park.

The Bees dominated almost exclusively until Harry Forrester headed them in front in the 52nd minutes.

But Bury, who had been content to defend the 0-0 score line, scored an equalising goal on the break and then did so again after Marcello Trotta had put The Bees back in front.

When the final whistle was blown for a 2-2 draw, Bury had taken a point from Griffin Park after the most defensive display seen in TW8 for many months.

The first half was almost attack v defence as Brentford tried to prise open the Bury back line, protected by a five-man midfield.

Trevor Carson denied Tom Adeyemi early on before Ashley Eastham, who certainly earned his corn, blocked efforts from Forrester and Trotta and Ethan Ebanks-Landell turned a cross over hit own bar.

Adam Forshaw shot narrowly over from 20 yards and Shaleum Logan missed the target before Trotta volleyed over from ten yards when he had time to bring the ball down.

Jonathan Douglas headed a Jake Bidwell free kick straight at Carson from ten yards and Forshaw and Forrester had shot blocked as Brentford continued to knock at the door.

Bury’s one attempt at goal in the first half was a long range shot from Zac Thompson that dribbled harmlessly wide.

All the action was at the other end and Clayton Donaldson went close with a shot before the break while Logan curled an effort wide.

Brentford continued to hold the upper hand after half time and Douglas shot wide from a Forrester lay off early in the second period.

The Bees got the goal they deserved six minutes after the re-start, Donaldson created space on the right, Logan crossed and Forrester headed home at the far post.

Having fallen behind, Bury suddenly woke up and realised the aim of football was to score goals.

Thompson’s shot from the edge of the box was saved and Simon Moore did well to keep out a Steven Schumacher free kick before Moore saved a Soares header.

Donaldson had a shot saved and referee David Coote waved away appeals for a penalty when Bury claimed a cross hit the arm of Harlee Dean before the visitors snatched an equaliser.

A long ball over the top left Soares in a race with Logan and the Bury man won it, he lashed past the advancing Moore to bring his team level.

But Brentford responded.

Carson tipped a Dean header wide and from the resulting corner The Bees were back in front.

As the ball dropped, Douglas’ shot was blocked but Trotta kept it alive and when Adeyemi saw a shot saved, the Italian striker slotted home.

Bury, however, got themselves level again within ten minutes.

Soares tricked his way past Logan and cross for Nicky Ajose to head home from close range.

Brentford tried to find a winner and Forrester shot over after picking up a Trotta lay off but Bury shut up shop again with their point to defend.

And they did enough to take it back to Greater Manchester.
