Brentford Under-18s were beaten 4-3 by MK Dons Under-18s in an entertaining clash at Woughton on the Green on Saturday morning.

Goals from Brandon Annous, Emeka Peters and a trialist were not enough to secure victory, after four first-half goals from the home side ensured they left with the three points.

The west Londoners did have a late penalty that was saved by the MK Dons goalkeeper, which meant defeat for the young Bees.

Lydia Bedford’s side were looking to halt a two-game losing streak as they took on the young Dons away from home.

It was not a good start for the visitors, as they conceded in the opening moments of the game, gifting Isaac Olaleye a chance, which he converted. And it was two for the home side soon after, as Edwin Daffern volleyed home from inside the box.

But the Bees rallied back and, 10 minutes from half-time, some good play from Kaya Halil and Remy Bennison saw Brandon Annous pick up the ball in the penalty area, but he failed to keep his shot down.

Annous would not be denied at the second time of asking, however, as he jinked his way into the box and showed great composure to dispatch from close range.

Two minutes later, the scores were level, as Annous turned provider, delivering an excellent cross for the trialist to steer a great header into the net.

The Dons responded though as, a minute before the half-time whistle, they went back ahead through Daffern, who scored his second of the game.

Isaac Brammeld then made it four for the Dons, showing great skill to create space for himself to convert from close range.

The second half was a much quieter one, as Bedford's side probed without finding a decisive blow.

Second-half substitute Emeka Peters stepped up to react quickest to a loose ball after goalkeeper Jesse Bedford fumbled the initial shot from Adam Poliakov, before converting to make it 4-3.

The Bees were handed a lifeline with the full-time whistle approaching, as Peters drove at his man and won a penalty after being fouled by a trailing leg. But the opposition keeper made a great save to deny the trialist from 12 yards out late on.
