Brentford will now face Bristol City in their first Sky Bet Championship match of 2021 next week. The sides were due to meet last Saturday, 2 January, but the game was suspended. It has now been rearranged for Wednesday, 13 January, and will kick-off at 7pm.

An EFL statement, which can be seen in full here, outlined that the original game had to be suspended as Covid-19 symptoms had been noted in the City squad. Due to the New Year Bank Holiday closure of the testing laboratory, Bristol City were unable to arrange the testing of the entire squad and backroom staff ahead of the match. The EFL announced the circumstances surrounding the postponement would be the subject of an investigation in accordance with EFL Regulations.

The game, on Wednesday, will be the first league game in 2021 for both teams. City are currently tenth in the Championship table, eight points and six places behind The Bees. Bristol City are, like Brentford, in Emirates FA Cup action this weekend, facing Portsmouth on Sunday, 10 January.

The match will, unfortunately, be behind closed doors. It will, however, as it stands be available live on iFollow Brentford. As per EFL communication on the broadcast arrangements for the new season, all of a team's games not selected for live coverage by Sky Sports will only be available on that platform. See more here.

Season Ticket Holders that agreed to freeze their seats for the current campaign in to 2021/22 now have iFollow VIP access. This has been extended until the end of January. They can watch the game on Saturday when they log in to their iFollow account. See more here.
