Midfield player Ryan Williams has joined Brentford on a one-year contract with an option for a further year.

The 24-year-old was most recently at Morecambe but was a free agent before signing for The Bees this afternoon.

Phil Giles, Brentford FC Co-Director of Football, said: “We are delighted to welcome Ryan to Brentford.

“Ryan is a player who we feel has a lot of unreleased potential and we can really help develop him over the season."

The Birkenhead-born attacking midfield man came through the youth ranks at Chester City and was in the match day squad in the Football League for the Welsh border side when he was just 17.

After Chester’s relegation and liquidation, Ryan played for Colwyn Bay, Llandudno and Welsh Premier League outfit Rhyl.

He joined Morecambe in 2012 and scored six goals in 61 games for the Lancashire side.
