Brentford have signed striker Nick Proschwitz from Premier League Hull City on a free transfer.

The tall forward has signed a one-year contract and there is a Club option on the deal for a further two years.

The 27-year-old joined Hull in 2012 after spending the majority of his career in his native Germany.

His opportunities were limited on Humberside and he started just 12 games in all competitions over the past two seasons.

Nick did manage seven goals in those 12 games and the 25 appearances he made as a substitute.

He spent the end of last season on loan at Barnsley and scored four goals in 14 Championship games, eight of which were starts.

Nick will be Brentford’s seventh permanent signing of the close season after Alan Judge, Marcos Tébar, Andre Gray, Moses Odubajo, Scott Hogan and Tommy Smith.

The Bees have also signed Alex Pritchard on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

Mark Warburton, Brentford FC Manager, said: “We have had a long search to find the right striker that offers us quality and a variety of weaponry.

“Nick is a very experienced player.

“He put in some fantastic performances in Germany before his move to Hull.

“He went on loan to Barnsley at the end of last season and scored four in eight.

“He is an aerial threat and has very good technical ability.

“We think he will bring outstanding quality to the squad.

“We are delighted to secure him and look forward to him playing an important part this season.”

Mark also paid tribute to the work of Sporting Director Frank McParland and thanked Owner Matthew Benham for his support.

“We have already signed Alan, Moses, Andre, Scott, Tommy and Marcos and brought in Alex Pritchard,” said Mark.

“Frank and Matthew are aware of what we need and are working tirelessly to make it happen.

“It is very pleasing for me and I am grateful to Frank and his team for all their work.”

Nick was born in East Germany before the fall of The Berlin Wall and started his career in 2004 playing for the reserve teams of clubs including VfL Wolfsburg and Hamburger SV.

He moved in to the Swiss league, playing for FC Vaduz, where he scored 23 goals in one season in the second tier, and FC Thun.

He spent the 2011/12 season with Bundesliga II side SC Paderborn 07 and scored 17 goals in 33 matches.

Nick will wear the number 39 shirt.
