Brentford goalkeeper Richard Lee has joined Fulham on loan for the rest of the season.

The 32-year-old stopper, who will retire at the end of the season, joined the West London side today.

He will be with them for the rest of the campaign but there is a clause allowing Brentford to recall him after 28 days.

Richard has been third choice goalkeeper at Brentford this season, playing one match and being an unused substitute on a further four occasions.

Fulham have seven Sky Bet Championship matches remaining and Richard will be available for six of those, he cannot play against Brentford on Good Friday.

Mark Warburton, Brentford FC Manager, said: “This is a chance for Richard to be involved in First Team matches.

“Mark Smith has returned after a loan spell and is pushing Richard to be third-choice goalkeeper here.

“This loan move could give Richard some valuable game time in the final days of his career, although he won’t play against us.

“Richard has been outstanding for Brentford.

“He will be able to go there and then come back to us if we require him for Play-Off games at the end of the season.

“We are preparing the squad for the challenges to come and this is another way of doing that.”

Brentford signed Richard Lee in the summer of 2010.

He has suffered with shoulder injuries during his time at Griffin Park but made his name with his penalty saving expertise during Brentford’s runs in the Carling Cup and Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in 2010/11, a year he was named Supporters’ ‘Player of the Year’.

Richard has played 87 games for Brentford in all competitions in approaching five seasons at Griffin Park, 66 of them in the league.
