One of the more unusual Club Records was equalled during our first Premier League season. When Ivan Toney scored from the penalty spot against Burnley in March it was the 14th time he had done so. His total of 14 league penalties scored for The Bees puts him level at the top of the list.

Ivan has, in total, scored 17 times from the penalty spot in two years with Brentford. As well as his 14 in league matches, he has two in Play-Off matches and one in the Emirates FA Cup. His 17 successful efforts puts him second in terms of total penalties scored for The Bees.

Top of that list, and level in terms of league spot kicks, is Kevin O’Connor. Kevin, now on the First Team coaching staff, scored 19 penalties in 501 matches for The Bees. He scored 14 of them in the league and four in cup competitions, as well as one in the Play-Offs.

There are eight players who have scored ten or more spot kicks for Brentford, excluding penalty shoot-outs, as far as records can be collated. Fred Monk and Bobby Ross both scored 11 - Monk’s total includes one in abandoned game v West Ham United in March 1952 – and four players have scored ten. Stan Bowles, Johnny Brooks, Paul Evans and Stephen Hunt are the other men in double figures.

The first penalty awarded in the Football League, was on 28 August 1920, in our first league match away to Exeter City. Jimmy Hodson sent the ball wide. In our Football League seasons (from 1920, excluding war seasons), we have scored 318 league penalties (including one in an abandoned game). A further 141 have been awarded but were unsuccessful, making a success rate of 69 per cent.
