Brentford FC Community Sports Trust were recently awarded £10,000 by Hounslow Council to support young carers in the borough. With the Trust already been applauded for supporting hundreds of young carers during the lockdown, the funding will be utilised to support young carers during Christmas time with activity packs and Christmas hampers.
Young Carers Coordinator at Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, Kathryn Sobczak, said: “Many of our young carers have been particularly isolated over the last few months and their caring role has increased. This funding will help support them by providing them with a much-needed break as well as giving them things to do to while being indoors this winter.”
During the government lockdown, the Trust’s young carers programme provided vital support for young carers who were shielding with family members. Key activities included, virtual youth clubs; art and drama workshops on Zoom; weekly welfare calls and activity packs to help keep young carers active at home.
