B team winger Michael Olakigbe feels the side need to be more ruthless following their 2-2 draw with Huddersfield Town B on Tuesday afternoon.

The young Bees were made to rue their missed opportunities following two late strikes from Town as they took a draw away with them back to West Yorkshire despite Brentford dominating for large parts.

Reacting to the match at the Robert Rowan Performance Centre, Michael said: “I think it was a great game for us and I think we dominated in possession and out of possession during the game and we had a lot of chances that I think we should’ve put away.

“As Neil (MacFarlane) said, we just need to be a bit more ruthless in the final third and start putting these teams to bed. We need to have a bit more composure and we need to take a bit more care with the final ball or the final pass and shot. We scored two great goals and I think we need to score more of them. We had chances in the second half which would have been even better goals.”

The young Bees were boosted with three senior first team players involved in the match as Frank Onyeka, Vitaly Janelt and Zanka all gained important minutes in the match.

On getting the chance to play alongside the senior players, Michael said: “They’re top players to play with. They’re playing in the Premier League, the best league in the world, so it’s good to learn from them and get advice. When you play with better players you improve as well, so it’s good to play with them and I hope to do that a lot more. Zanka, Vitaly and Frank tell you things when the ball goes out of play, the little things that can help you get the advantage over your opponent. They’re a lot more vocal and they help a lot.”

The young Bees will now turn their attentions to their Premier League Cup semi-final with Fulham on 27 April as they go in search of silverware. With the chance to come up against his former club, Michael says he and the rest of the group are excited for the challenge.

He continued: “It’s a very big game for me and for the team. Hopefully we can win and get through to the next round which would be lovely for me and the team. We’re very excited. We need to be ruthless. When we get that opportunity, we have to put it away, that’s for me and all the attackers. It’s our first Premier League Cup, it will be a big achievement to get to the next round.”
