Brentford B’s latest recruit Ethan Brierley feels heading to West London will be the perfect way to continue his development after he signed a three-year deal with the Bees.

Ethan, who arrives from Rochdale, will officially join upon the opening of the summer transfer window and will link up with his new teammates in pre-season after the summer break. The 19-year-old says looking around the Robert Rowan Performance Centre was a major factor in agreeing to join the club.

“Once I heard Brentford were looking at me, I was buzzing,” smiled Ethan. “When I came to visit, I couldn’t say no, I had a look around the training ground and met lots of people here. Everyone seems very nice and the training ground is unbelievable. I’m buzzing to be here and I can’t wait to get started.”

When deciding to make the move to the capital from his boyhood club Rochdale, Ethan says he had conversations with B team head coach Neil MacFarlane and the youngster feels he can make an impact on the young Bees next season to build on some good experience in League Two during 2022/23.

He continued: “I’ve met the manager and he’s told me what he thinks I can get from my time here and what he thinks I can add to the team. Everything seems very good and I think it will suit me. I’m looking forward to putting my boots on, going out training and then playing some games.”

So, what sort of midfielder is Ethan? The 19-year-old is all action and will be looking to create as many chances as possible for the team. He also can’t wait to test himself within the B team fixture programme which in the 2022/23 season saw the team play matches in the likes of Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Portugal.

He explained: “I like to get on the ball. I like to think I don’t really feel pressure. I’ve played in front of quite a lot of fans and I don’t let that affect me at any point. I like to get on the ball, turn and play and get moves started.

“It’s an unbelievable feeling to join a club like this. I’ve watched Brentford for a while now and I think it suits me, definitely. It’s a huge honour for Brentford to want me and I’m joining a club that are on the up. I’ve been looking at the B team for a while and I’ve seen all the different games. You play against Premier League sides (U21 level) and you go to places like Belgium and Portugal which is unbelievable. I’m looking forward to it, they all seem like good lads so I’m looking forward to the first day in training and getting to know more about everyone.”
