Brentford completed a five-day tour of Portugal with two wins as a number of players received valuable minutes.
Neil MacFarlane’s side took on two unnamed Portuguese sides and left the country with a 100 per cent record, winning 3-2 in the first game and then 1-0 in the second and final match.
The first game saw a return to action for Kyreece Lisbie who played 45 mins. The winger has not featured for the Bees since the back end of the last campaign.
Ashley Hay continued his fine goalscoring form by finishing off a Ben Krauhaus pass after the latter won possession back in a dangerous area.
Ethan Laidlaw was another who played a significant amount of minutes following his recent return from injury.
The Scottish winger was then in the right place to receive a fine Hay backheel and converted from close range. He showed good composure to finish under pressure from two retreating players.
The Portuguese side did score early in the second half to draw level with the Bees.
Despite that equaliser, Neil MacFarlane’s side continued to pile on the pressure and midway through the second period, Benjamin Fredrick played an incisive pass to Isaac Holland and the wide man delivered a pinpoint cross which Hay converted. This confirmed his brace and capped off an incredible team move.
The game would end 3-2 in Brentford's favour.
The second game was another tough but entertaining clash.
Chances were few and far between in the first period but the young Bees looked like the most threatening side.
Paris Maghoma and Ryan Trevitt both played a significant amount of minutes.
Maghoma went close to scoring after combining with Tony Yogane and Ethan Brierley.
Iwan Morgan also had a header just go wide of the post.
The opposition had the best chance of the first period as their striker was played through on goal but Reggie Rose made a great stop to deny the goal.
Brierley opened the scoring for the team scoring from a clever free-kick, shooting low and hard underneath the wall catching the goalkeeper out.
Lisbie was a second-half substitute and he had a goal disallowed for offside.
The winger also should have doubled the lead as he skewed a volley wide.
The game would end 1-0 to the Bees as the B team rounded out their Portugal trip.
