The young Bees, who have already spent time in the likes of France, Portugal and Austria so far in 2020, will head out to Paphos to continue their hard work following progression to the London Senior Cup semi-final earlier this week.
Whilst in Cyprus, the side will take on Pafos FC’s first team on Monday 2 March in a 12pm kick-off local time (10m UK time) and the match will provide another excellent test for the young group as they continue their development in being ready for first team football.
The young Bees will take on a Pafos side who compete in the Cypriot first division, otherwise known as the Cyta Championship, in which 12 teams compete in the league. The teams play each other twice before the season enters a second round where teams placed between first and sixth play-off to win the title and qualification for European competition. This means the remaining teams between 7th and 12th compete to avoid relegation. Teams who win the league qualify for the UEFA Champions League whilst the runner-up and the team which finished 3rd enter the UEFA Europa League.
Pafos FC currently occupy 7th in the league table and recently beat APOEL 2-0 at home, and a couple of days prior to playing Brentford B they will travel to Doxa, who are bottom of the division.
Neil MacFarlane will be returning to Pafos, a club he worked at under Steven Pressley prior to returning to England and eventually taking the role as Brentford B Head Coach.
Following the match, the group will then spend Tuesday-Friday engaging in high intensity training under Neil and his coaching staff.
The club endeavour to provide full coverage of Monday’s fixture and up to date information will be posted across the club’s social media channels prior to the game.
