The Finland youth international has impressed with Brentford B so far and has been involved with Thomas Frank’s first team on a few occasions, and having had a short break over Christmas, the youngster wants to hit the ground running in the new year.

He explained: “I got to go home for a couple of days before Christmas and then I came back with my family and spent Christmas here. In Finland Christmas is a massive thing so it was good to spend it with my family.

“Personally, I feel that I’ve settled quite well. Of course, you miss them (family,) but I’ve been able to settle down here and I’m doing my thing.

“It’s a great feeling (to play with the first team.) After all the work I’ve done to then get a little prize, but I just need to keep working hard and wait for my chance. It gives you more hunger to keep going. You have to keep your eyes and ears open and try and take in everything you can. I want to keep doing well with the B Team and that way I can try to make Thomas’s decisions harder.”

Reflecting on how 2019 ended, the Brentford B youngster feels things are going well under Neil MacFarlane having put some positive runs together in recent months.

Speaking about the matches before the Christmas break, Jaakko said: “I’ve really enjoyed it, and as a team we’ve got some great results in what has been some tough tests. I think I’ve been doing alright and quite consistent which is pleasing.

“It’s brilliant when the lads are scoring, you have to keep going. I enjoy to give the ball to the wingers and the number 10s for them to do their thing. I think it’s good for me and the team to play different kinds of games, it’s been good for us.

“I love playing those kinds of games where the opposition is top, and you have to do everything to get anything from the game. You realise that if you give anything away then they will immediately punish you, so you have to be tidy.”

Jaakko also believes that the team spirit as well as the talent within the camp can only count as positives as the side now ready themselves for trips to France and Portugal in January.

When asked about the best qualities of the group, he explained: “Togetherness, and we are always able to create chances, I think in each game I’ve played for Brentford B this season we have been able to create enough chances to win a game.

“Everyone wants to keep doing well and keep going from where we ended up in December.”
