Brentford B won the first West London derby of the season with a 3-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers at Jersey Road today.

First half goals from Manny Onariase, Herson Alves and Justin Shaibu put the game beyond reach.

Head Coach Flemming Pedersen was forced to leave out Reece Cole, missing through injury, and started Bradley Clayton in midfield. Herson Alves and Kyjuon Marsh-Brown continued their run of starts on either side of Justin Shaibu up front.

It was the Danish forward who created the first chance. Three minutes into the match, he slipped the ball through to Alves but the referee's assistant raised his flag as the winger broke free of the back four.

It didn't take long for Brentford to find a way through once more, this time Clayton played Shaibu on the edge of the box but his shot was saved by the QPR goalkeeper. The resulting corner was played short between Lukas Talbro and Zain Westbrooke, with the latter crossing to the far post for Onariase to lash home and open the scoring after only 12 minutes.

Pedersen's side were dominant in the early stages and the only thing 'keeper Ellery Balcombe had to deal with was a stray cross that he collected closer to his goalline than he would have liked.

With half an hour gone, Clayton hit a crossfield pass to Talbro on the right wing. The Dane brought it down and cut it back across for Clayton to burst in and fire at goal, the shot was well blocked by Ryan Manning.

Rangers wasted no time in creating their best chance of the half, a twisting run from Alex Prohouly that ended in the forward shooting the ball off Balcombe's crossbar.

Two quickfire goals came in the last few minutes of the first period. The first one started in midfield with Westbrooke playing Talbro down the wing. A first touch that took him away from his marker was followed by a low cross that was swept home by Alves arriving at the far post.

Barely 60 seconds later, The Bees were celebrating again. Chris Mepham saw space open up in the middle for him to drive into so he accelerated forward. Under no pressure he got his head up and played a perfectly weighted pass to Shaibu behind the R's back line. Shaibu took the ball in his stride and knocked it into the bottom corner to make it 3-0.

At the break Shaibu was replaced by Marc Rio as the forward felt a slight knock before the half time whistle was blown.

The spaniard was quick to create his first chance and almost got on the scoresheet. Marsh-Brown raced away from Manning down the right before dinking the ball back to where Rio was arriving. Despite making good contact on it, Seny Dieng in the sticks was able to somehow claw it wide.

With an hour gone, the two widemen combined to nearly make it four. Alves exchanged a neat one-two with Marsh-Brown before getting a snapshot at goal. The ball was blocked but Marsh-Brown followed up, fizzing his effort narrowly north of the bar.

Westbrooke was next in the queue to go close to netting another. Talbro drilled the ball in, Marsh-Brown faked a shot allowing it to instead run through to the edge of the box. Westbrooke was ready and waiting, but his shot cannoned off the left post.

Rangers nearly got one back when a lazy backpass from Chris Mepham put Balcombe under pressure. His clearance was closed down and trickled towards goal, but the young English goalkeeper did well to get up and throw himself in the way of the second shot and direct it behind. He had to be alert for the corner that followed as Jeremy Arthur's header forced a good save from his opponent.

The final action of the game saw Brentford go the closest they had come to netting a fourth. Substitute Nathan Fox played a ball expertly across the R's box, only for Alves to see his powerful shot somehow held by the 'keeper on the line.
